SUNDAY, September 28 | 2 to 6 PM | pleasant hill to beall’s hill
monroe st. + tattnall ST. + Oglethorpe st.

This route will connect historic neighborhoods along Monroe, Tattnall, and Oglethorpe Streets, highlighting key landmarks like the Booker T. Washington Community Center and Tattnall Square Park. The program is part of Macon’s broader Reimagining the Civic Commons initiative - a national effort to revitalize public spaces in ways that promote equity, civic engagement, and economic growth. The participating neighborhoods are central to the city’s vision of a more connected urban core.

Special thanks to residents Tonja Khabir, Darlene Carson, and John MacNeil for their dedication as neighborhood champions for this route, and to Macon-Bibb County’s Reimagining the Civic Commons Committee for their partnership in hosting this event.

“I’m excited that Open Streets will be returning to Pleasant Hill for the fourth time. It's always such a fun opportunity to collaborate with our community members and enjoy our streets in a new way,” said Tonja Khabir, Pleasant Hill Neighborhood Champion.

How to get involved!

 Volunteers

We need dozens of dedicated volunteers to help us bring the streets of Macon to life! We need your help from setting up to taking surveys, counting people, tactical urbanism projects and assisting our activity partners. We hope you’ll join us and help us transform our city!

 ACTIVITY PARTNERS

Our activity partners make Open Streets Macon one of the most unique programs in Macon-Bibb County. Activity Partners can be agencies, organizations, businesses, clubs, residents, government agencies, or anyone else that has the capacity to provide an activity on the Open Streets route. Activity Partners who sign-up after September 12 may not be included in marketing/printed materials for the Pleasant Hill to Beall's Hill route. We will still accept submissions, but we cannot guarantee advertising after September 12 for the first Open Streets route.
